# Marina de Gijón Sailing School, founded in 1993, the first nautical academy approved in Asturias, as well as a service company in the nautical sector, based in the Marina of Gijón, which focuses its activities on:
- Nautical Academy
- Rental of recreational sailing and motor boats
- Nautical excursions
- Sailing cruise courses
- Recreational Boat Skipper allows to govern recreational boats both motor and sailing up to a length of up to 10 meters and 15 meters.
- Planning:
- Total duration of the course: 40 hours, over two months in sessions of 2 hours 2 days a week.
- Requirements to obtain the qualification:
- Minimum age 18 years old
- Pass the official theoretical exam for the indicated call in January or May.
- Present a specific psycho-technical medical certificate for Navigation License, similar to that of the driving license, obtained in a Driver Recognition Center
- Photocopy of ID card.
- To carry out the Practices of Security and Navigation and Radio. Option of Practices of Sailing (not included in the price, amount 150?), to obtain the qualification to Sail of the qualification.

- *A psycho-technical medical examination by a Driver Examination Center for nautical sports license is required to issue the license*.
The price includes
- 16 practical hours of safety and navigation on the school's boats
- 12 practical hours of radio (Short Range Operator certificate)
- 40 hours of theory course.
- For two months, you will be receiving, studying and, above all, learning the theory you will need, not only for the exams but also for your next nautical life. This training can also be received through an online platform
- You will have the support of our teaching staff, with more than 25 years of experience in teaching both professional and recreational boating.
- You will be provided with all the necessary material for the development of the course:

- Solved exercises of coastal navigation
- Test for you to rehearse the exam.

- You will enjoy a follow-up and face-to-face and online tutorials
- Access keys to the platforms. We have prepared and conditioned classrooms, which have teaching aids such as computer equipment, projectors, whiteboards specially adapted for the resolution of coastal navigation exercises, examples of equipment and real material and a long etc..
Timetable
For the January call for applications, the course starts on October 26, 2023:
-Mondays and Wednesdays: from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. or from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
For the May call for applications, the course starts on February 26, 2024:

Do not forget
For the Navigation Practices:
- Comfortable shoes for walking on the deck of a boat, such as sneakers or nautical shoes
- Sunscreen in summer
- Wear warm clothes in the winter months (during the boat trip the thermal sensation drops).
