La visita modernista a Gijón nos decepcionó bastante. En el punto de venta se anunciaba una duración de dos horas, pero nada más comenzar la guía nos informó de que finalmente la visita duraría solo una hora y treinta minutos. Consideramos que, si se ofrece y se vende una actividad de dos horas, ese cambio debería comunicarse antes de contratarla. Además, teniendo en cuenta la gran cantidad de edificios modernistas que hay en Gijón, nos pareció muy escaso que durante la visita solo se mostraran cinco. Parte importante del tiempo se dedicó en la Plaza del Parchís a hablar sobre el carbón y a contemplar edificios que, por lo que se nos explicó, no eran modernistas, en lugar de centrarse en el objetivo de la visita. En definitiva, sentimos que la actividad no cumplió ni con la duración anunciada ni con las expectativas que genera una visita dedicada específicamente al modernismo de Gijón.

Route through the most representative buildings of the early twentieth century modernism in Gijón combined with the most delicious Gijón/Xixón.
In the Gijón/Xixón of 1900, immersed in a dynamic of development in all areas, both from the economic, commercial, industrial, financial, demographic, social, urban, touristic and cultural point of view, the emerging bourgeoisieand cultural, the emerging bourgeoisie will seek to leave a clear mark of its presence and its aspirations. And it will do so, among other mechanisms, by using architecture, as well as the urban remodeling of the city's main streets.
Within this framework, modernist forms found a field of expansion.
We will go through an itinerary with a small selection of the most interesting modernist buildings in Gijón: Calles Jovellanos, Instituto, Cabrales, Plazuela San Miguel, Plaza de Europa, Corrida.
We will take advantage of our walk through the streets of the city center to visit the confectioneries, chocolate and ice cream shops that are part of Gijón Goloso and taste their specialties.
