Feel the Asturian essence with this complete guided tour through the center of Gijón, where you will immerse yourself in the Celtic origins of the city.
The starting point of our guided tour will be the Jardines de la Reina, an ideal place to delve into the past and present of the maritime capital of the Principality of Asturias.
We will walk along the pier while we evoke the Celtic origins of the city and immerse ourselves in the Roman vestiges still present in its urban planning.
We will pass by the Revillagigedo Palace and stop at the statue of Don Pelayo to learn about the history of the first Asturian king.
We will continue our guided tour of Gijón walking through Cimadevilla, an area known as the Fishermen's Quarter due to the traditional settlement of sailors in this place. We will skirt San Lorenzo Beach and walk along the Wall to enjoy unparalleled views of Gijón merged with the sea.
We will also discover some curiosities of this great avenue that connects the two ends of the urban area of the city. Our next stop will be Jovellanos' Birthplace, where we will learn more about the development plans that the illustrious writer designed for Gijón.
In addition, we will have the opportunity to admire the famous Sea Altarpiece that the museum houses inside. We will cross the narrow cobblestone streets of the center of Gijón until we reach the Plaza Mayor, where we will taste a cider to regain strength and put the finishing touch to our guided tour of the Asturian city.
